Today, I am testing the new Matrix ‘AIR’ power cable, and I have to say it has been quite an eye-opener in many respects. During the test of the Matrix ‘AIR’, I had the pleasure of experiencing the exceptional audio quality produced by the Rotel Michi X3 Series 2 audiophile Integrated Amplifier. I had previously tested this amplifier in June 2023 and was impressed by its ability to provide accurate and detailed audio on a wide soundstage.
Loudspeakers
The loudspeakers used in the testing are provided by Apertura Audio, a French company with over 40 years of experience and a brand of Stentor SAS. The Loudspeakers were driven by the Matrix PRO speaker cables using Rhodium (needlepoint) connections. It was a truly immersive listening experience, and I highly recommend the amplifier and the speakers for any audio enthusiast.
It’s time to take a coffee break and let the system warm up. We’ve chosen a range of tracks to test the Matrix ‘AIR’ power cable, including music from Diana Krall, Yello, Queen, Michael Jackson, and Art of Noise. Using the same tracks for testing provides a consistent base for comparison, allowing us to assess the quality and dynamics of different audio cables.
Matrix testing
The first piece of music was Diana Krall’s ‘Temptation’, and I must say that it was an incredible experience. The music had a unique depth and transparency that I had never heard before. The tones were beautiful, and I heard details and micro-details I had never noticed. The sound was so vibrant and colourful that it felt like the music was coming to life. Overall, it was a truly sensational experience that I will never forget.
As we listened to Yello’s ‘The Vanishing of Peter Strong’, we were completely immersed in the experience. The music was so powerful and dynamic that we felt like we were in the middle of the performance. The sound was all around us, and we could feel every note vibrating through our bodies. It was as if the music had come to life and was trying to pull us into its world.
Experience
We proceeded to play the rest of the music tracks we were familiar with. However, we noticed a notable difference in the sound quality with each piece. Both of us were in accord and attempted to determine the extent of the performance enhancement. It was a challenging task, but we agreed that the Matrix ‘Air’ power cable outperformed its predecessor by at least 15%.

Conclusion
I will never forget this experience. It has been three hours, and I can still feel the sound in my ears and the feeling of delight while listening to music I know so well. Also, I am amazed at how every part of music improved. From the Bass, upper bass, mids, highs and ultra highs. How can a power cable impact the sound heard at the loudspeakers in such a way. A truly immersive listening experience and I highly recommend the Matrix ‘AIR’ power cable to any audio enthusiast.
