Matrix Crossover
Engineered with precision, the cable incorporates advanced features such as Perkune dual ‘AirGap’ isolation, full-length aluminum foil shielding, PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene), and external anti-static isolation material. This meticulous construction marks a significant leap forward, ensuring the ultimate in cable performance. The Matrix XLR/RCA crossover cable is meticulously crafted with true audiophiles in mind, promising an unparalleled audio experience.
XLR connection
One standout feature of the Neutrik connectors is the use of gold-plated contacts. This design choice not only enhances conductivity but also provides resistance to corrosion, ensuring a reliable and consistent signal transfer. The XX Series connectors, like many XLR connectors, include a locking mechanism crucial for establishing a secure connection between male and female connectors, effectively preventing unintended disconnections during use. This combination of features emphasises a steadfast commitment to quality and reliability in the Matrix XLR/RCA crossover cable.
RCA connections
The RCA connections on this cable are also gold-plated, ensuring optimal contact and facilitating perfect signal transfer. This meticulous enhancement is designed to elevate your music experience, creating a sensation akin to removing cotton wool from your ears. The impact is substantial, with a larger soundstage offering greater depth and width, along with razor-sharp image positioning.
These improvements result in heightened sensitivity to intricate details and micro-details in your audio, contributing to an elevated level of excitement and involvement in your overall listening experience. The precision of the gold-plated RCA connections takes your music to a new level, offering a more immersive and detailed sonic experience.
Amplifier used
To assess the capabilities of the Matrix XLR/RCA Crossover cable, we opted for the Rotel Michi X3 Series 2 audiophile Integrated Amplifier. As it demonstrated an ability to deliver precise and detailed audio information. Revisiting it for this evaluation only reinforced my appreciation for the amplifier’s prowess.
The amplifier’s capacity to reproduce audio with accuracy was striking, providing a captivating and immersive listening experience. The wide soundstage, coupled with intricate details, contributed to creating a sonic landscape that truly captivated the listener.
Loudspeakers used
For the testing phase, we employed loudspeakers from Apertura Audio. Who are a distinguished French company boasting over 40 years of expertise and operating under the umbrella of Stentor SAS. The choice of Apertura Audio loudspeakers reflects a commitment to quality and a rich heritage in audio engineering. Ensuring optimal signal transfer and, consequently, an audio experience transcending conventional boundaries.
Cable testing
For the XLR/RCA crossover testing, I curated a diverse selection spanning various genres and lasting approximately one hour. The exploration began with Diana Krall’s ‘Temptation,’ a piece that unfolded with a unique depth and transparency, revealing tones of unparalleled beauty. Details and micro-details surfaced with newfound clarity, unveiling a vibrant and colourful sonic landscape.
Transitioning to ‘The Vanishing of Peter Strong,’ performed by ‘Yello’ my favourite band, marked yet another ascent up the auditory ladder. Also, the music exhibited a remarkable balance of power and smoothness. As each note seemed a deliberate step up in sonic quality. The sound enveloped the space, creating an atmosphere where the music seemed to transcend its recorded form. And beckon me into Peter Strong’s world.
Location
The cable testing held at Garso Namai, Kauno g. 31, 03215 Vilnius, Lithuania. Tel (8-690) 22322, and always a pleasure to test in their facilities.
Conclusion
The Matrix XLR/RCA crossover isn’t merely a cable; it’s a performance-enhancing tool that elevates your sound to the ultimate level and is a must-have. And highly recommended for any audiophile seeking to enhance and refine their listening experience.
