The Audiophile

An Audiophile is a person who has a great interest and is enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction and Audiophile values may be applied to all stages of music reproduction:

The initial audio recording, the production process, and the playback, which is usually in a home setting, are all equal components in the eyes of the audiophile.

Changes

Over the years things have change dramatically with the advances in technology but we still are where we started in many respects. The main goal of the audiophile is to be able to capture the experience of a live musical performance in a room with good acoustics, and reproduce it at home but this is very difficult and even the best-regarded recording and playback systems rarely, if ever, achieve the desired result.

We all begin with a very basic simple system but for some reason something inside just wants to be able to hear things better.

Something unbeknown stirs us and sends signals to our brains that it wants more and why this is happening is something that an Audiophile can never explain. The search for bigger and better starts and in some cases drives the Audiophile crazy and he or she will do anything and spend every last penny to get that ultimate sound into the safety of their listing room.

The journey

We want more and so the journey begins to go to the local dealer and listen to what he has got to offer but this is where people go wrong because the audio showroom has a very different set of acoustics than the listening room in the audiophile’s home.

What can sound great in the show room will never sound the same at home.

The only way to be able to evaluate a piece of equip is to audition the equipment where it will be placed and this means having the dealer bring the equipment and set it up in the comfort of the intended listening room and this can be done with very little trouble these days.

It all started with Vinyl and vinyl is making its way back after all these years and vinyl is the trademark of a true audiophile. The quality of Vinyl is unmistakable, the sound from Vinyl is unforgettable and the look and feel of Vinyl is a thing unto itself. http://www.stuff.tv/features/30-essential-albums-audiophiles

Quality

A turntable connected to a tube amplifier is still regarded by many as the best way to go in terms of quality reproduction and depending on the loudspeakers used will certainly give the listener a sound that has its own magic.

A CD player is often used in conjunction with Vinyl and many hours are spent switching between the two formats just to hear what the difference are but this is again where so many people go wrong because the formats are so different and the only way to hear the music as it was intended is to have two separate system, one for Vinyl and one for CD but this can then become too expensive for some but for other cost is no object and they do in fact have both but they are always wondering which sound they prefer Analogue or Digital. The next thing is to invite fellow Audiophiles to the listening room and ask which they prefer but then why should it matter who prefers what because the best thing is just to enjoy the music. http://www.amazon.com/lm/RBDTRPVUJTCBD

The Cost.

How much to spend on a system and what do you get in return for the amount of money that you spend. Well It seems that it is very hard to be an Audiophile because nothing is that easy to do.

You have to pay so much more just to hear a little bit more sound improvement and the more you pay then the less of a difference is heard. When a person who is not an Audiophile asks a simple question like how much did you pay for your power cord and he is told 10,000 pounds then there is no wonder the man will not understand what you are saying or you say the price of the speakers was 120,000 pounds then he will think his hearing has gone wrong but to an audiophile these figures are quite normal but how much better doses it really sound. This is a very good question because what you have never heard you have never missed so how will you know until you ever are able to enter the world of the Audiophile. http://hometheaterreview.com/the-most-expensive-audiophile-speakers-of-all-time/#0123%20Most%20Expensive%20Audiophile%20Speakers%20of%20All%20Time

The choice

An Audiophile always has a choice which is be happy with what he has got or go the route that many go and put their systems before anything else which can lead sometimes a very unpleasant family dispute! An Audiophile can have a system that will give a very good sound for say 1000 pounds but will he get a sound that is twice as good if he spends 2000 pounds well the answer is no and to get a system that sounds twice as good then you will have to spend 10,000 pounds. You can read so many articles from so many people and they all say different things because there is just no answer to the mystery of the magical world of music.

The recording

Everything starts from the music weather it be vocal, strings, guitars, brass, piano or just a mix.

The way in which music is recorded is very simple and is a microphone placed in front of the performer. This analogue sound is picked up by the microphone, which feeds the signal to a storage device that is usually a magnetic tape machine. This information can then be transferred to either to a Vinyl cutting machine (which are readily available) http://motherboard.vice.com/read/this-awesome-machine-cuts-vinyl-records-in-mere-minutes or to the digital to analogue converter and then to a CD recording machine or any other recording device http://www.bulletproofmusician.com/five-best-recording-devices/

The Technology has changed to such an extent that even very good recording can be done at a fraction of the cost of the earlier years but it does not matter because a true Audiophile still loves the smell and feel of the real thing as do we all and if music be the food of love then please play on!
