Better - how to make a HiFi sound better

This is a question that is often asked in the audiophile world, how can I make it sound better?

make it sound betterThere are many answers on how to make it sound better but I will explain a few things that will help you to become more receptive to the idea of making changes.

There are many people who are wanting to make their HiFi systems sound better but just do not know how to do it or what to do.

This is because people are unaware of some of the basic steps that will make the system sound better and I will introduce you to these basic three areas and things to do to make your system sound better.

.
Your system

Your system can be very old from the sixties or a new system from the HiFi shop on the corner. Your system can have cost you 1000 Euros or 10,000 Euros and it really does not matter what it costs because any and every system can be made to sound better. There are many different kinds of systems used today and some of them are works of art the way they are built and the way they look. Beautiful colors and beautiful styles and the new age of audio has really taken a giant step forward.

Changes

If you want to make something better then you have to be prepared to make changes in the way that you are thinking. I like to think of myself as very open minded and will always be open to suggestions in anything that I am doing and this is because I have learned to make changes and to accept what a person tells me who has more experience them me in certain subjects. Audio is my subject now and has been for many years and so I am the person who has the experience and I am more than willing to share it with you.

Three areas

To make your system sound better, there are a few basic steps and it is not hard to do and you will hear the results very easily. There are three areas that you need to be aware of when you have decided to improve your sound and I will go through them step by step and you will see how easy it is and all you need is a bit of patience.

First area

.

The first area is what is called placement and this is where you will set up and position your loudspeakers. If you look at the system setup page then it will give you a good idea of the systems that have been setup in different countries.

It does not matter about the size of your loudspeakers, or the make or your loudspeakers or the power ratings because there is a very simple formula that is used to set where your speakers should be to give you the best possible sound.

Second area

The second area is called the Isolation area. This is where each piece of equipment is placed and what it is actually sitting on.

Vibration is one of the things that can easily affect equipment performance and so it is essential to be able to isolate every component from the place where it is placed. This can be very easily done and is not expensive to do and the results can be really surprising.

The first step is to put insulation spikes under each piece of equipment that you have in your system. The source machine, the preamplifier, the DAC, the amplifier and under the loudspeakers. The system will then be Isolated from the surrounding surfaces that normally transmit vibrations to the equipment and cause distortions in the sound. There are many manufacturers of spikes but I prefer the spikes made by a company in Norway because I have used them and know the results. I can also recommend wooden blocks as they are again excellent and have a different sound and are made by an American company.

Third area

The third area is called Cabling and this is a subject that is unknown in most areas. When a person buys a piece of audio equipment the dealer neglects to tell him that the piece of equipment would sound much better if it had a good power cord fitted. Also, the person selling the CD player or turntable fails to tell the customer that they could get a much better sound if they were to replace the standard interconnects with an upgraded or better quality interconnect.

When A person buys a pair of loudspeakers, the dealer again in most cases fails to tell the now owner that his speakers would sound very much better if they were supplied with a set of upgraded loudspeaker cables.

Why this information is in most cases not given from the dealer to the new owner I really do not know because it is all part of the service. A person should be made aware of things that can easily be done to help him get the best sound possible from his audio system. Please see the customer comments section.

Conclusion

I have told you there are three areas to contend with when making your HiFi sound better and all you have to do it take it step by and you will get there. You are using the equipment that you already own and the only additional expense will be to add sound spikes and some cables with is really only a very small price to pay for the improvements that you will hear.
