Good quality audiophile cable
How to find a good quality audiophile cable and why do we need it? This is a question that I am often asked and so will explain the best way that I can.
I think that I will begin by asking what exactly is an audiophile quality cable and how does it differ from a normal audio quality cable.
What is an audio cable?
The audio cable is a very important item that is used in the audio system. The audio cable takes the audio signal from the source ( Vinyl/CD/DVD) to the amplifier or a pre-amplifier. But the audio that comes with the source machine is not of a very high quality. It is of a quality that is sufficient for normal listening but it is only in recent years that it has been found that there is much more to an audio cable than first believed.
What is an audiophile cable?
The audiophile cable is an audio cable but of a much higher quality than a stand audio cable. There are three different types of cable. The first is the cable that is supplied with the audio component (CD player, Turntable, amplifier etc.) This is of a quality that is good for all normal listening. The next is an upgraded audio cable, which is supplied by various companies. This cable is of much higher quality and allows the listener to be able to hear much more of the music.
The Hi-end audiophile cable.
The third and most exciting is the “Hi-end” audiophile cable, which allows the listener to hear everything that the music has to offer. But the cost of a high end cable is often outside of a normal person reach. The “hi-end” cable is only made by a few companies who specialise in these type of cables.
The weakest link
There is a great saying. “everything is as good as it’s weakest link” I would like to say that your system, must be in balance. If you system costs 1000 Euros there is no point is spending another 1000 Euros on an audio cable. If you spend 10,000 Euros on your system and spend another 1,000 Euros on a cable then yes you will hear a difference. You can spend 3,000 Euros and again you will hear a difference.
Conclusion
An audio cable is designed to get the sound from your source to your amplifier to your loudspeakers. The way it gets there is up to you and you would be surprised how little you have to spend to get a really good sound!
