I have written the ‘How to improve computer sound’ article. And, it may open your thinking about power cables. Do they improve performance on a computer?
Many people are using Computers as the source machine with Audiophile sound cards and headphones. But, unfortunately, the power cable is always overlooked.
I met Antanas Šėmis in the summer of 2020, and we have developed a good relationship. But, it was only this year, I discovered his passion for music. Which, led to seeing and hearing the music produced by his computer. And, How to improve computer sound.

The Computer construction by Antanas Šėmis is next-generation configuration. And, the next step to build an exceptional custom manufactured case.
Built based on the legendary NH-D14 and carrying on its quest for ultimate quiet cooling performance, Noctua’s flagship model NH-D15 is an elite-class dual tower cooler for the highest demands. Its expanded heat pipe layout and two premium grade NF-A15 140mm fans with PWM support for automatic speed control allow it to improve the NH-D14’s award-winning efficiency further.
Topped off with the trusted, pro-grade SecuFirm2™ multi-socket mounting system, Noctua’s proven NT-H1 thermal compound and full six-year manufacturer’s warranty, the NH-D15 forms a complete premium-quality solution that represents a deluxe choice for overclockers and silent-enthusiasts alike. How to improve computer sound
The Sound Blaster AE-9 has the Ultimate 32-bit / 384 kHz PCI-e Sound Card and DAC with X amp Discrete Headphone Bi-Amp and Audio Control Module. The Sound Blaster AE-9 is built with the absolute best components to deliver pristine, detailed audio quality that would satisfy even the most demanding audiophile.
The core of the Sound Blaster AE-9 is the flagship audiophile-grade hi-res ESS SABRE-class 9038 DAC. It delivers an ultra-high DNR of 129 dB, 32-bit 384 kHz playback over PCM, DSD64, and an incredibly low Total Harmonic Distortion of -120 dB (0.0001%). High-performance GPUs pack heavy workload onto their boards, causing power supply ripple noise that manifests into audible noise and distortion when the microphone signal amplified.
The AE-9’s CleanLine technology features a specially designed circuitry and components that eliminate voltage rail issues and isolates noise along the microphone path that typically plagues internal audio cards. Also, we utilise a differential drive for the mic signal to reduce the common-mode noise induced by other electronic sources.
The Sound Blaster AE-9 designed to bring out the best in any headphone. And, boasts the fully discrete Xamp Headphone Bi-amplifier that amplifies each audio channel individually, delivering pristine audio in an unaltered lossless model to each earcup regardless of demand.
One thing is certain. And, the Sound Blaster AE-9 works with all kinds of headphones. Driving audiophile-grade headphones up to 600Ω, all the way to sensitive in-ear monitors with its ultra-low 1Ω headphone output impedance.
The initial sound from the audio system was impressive upon first listening. But, I was interested to see if by adding one of my power cables, would there be any further improvement. And, if so, by how much? Also was it worth spending extra money if there was an increase? After intense discussion, we decided to go ahead with the test and install the Perkune Matrix power cable.
Even though my computer, built as a working tool, colossal importance was sound quality. And, I adore working and creating with good sound. I installed the audio card Creative AE-9. And, From all cards I tried, this was the best. When I told Paul what sound system I had, he was intrigued. And, thought my PC sounded good. But, gave me some extra tips on how to improve my computer as a music player. Paul wanted to compare how my PC could communicate with one of his cables. And, offered me to try the Matrix power cable.
My curiosity got the better of me, and Paul installed the power cable. And, the first impression was unbelievable. I left all settings and volume the same, but now the music sounded louder, more transparent and brighter. And, the sound stage became more significant. There was a much-improved bass which was tight with greater depth. The whole room became alive with the performers. And, was hearing things I never heard before!
I would never have believed just by replacing a power cable could do so much. And, the new sound is giving me so much pleasure, I can’t stop listening. Also, regarding the price, it is money well spent. And, so happy, I had the opportunity to improve my system.
