Audio system set upA real breakthrough happened in 1997 as the first DVD player, was introduced into the marketplace. And my wish to add a DVD player to my audio system started me down the path to what I am doing now.

Which, is helping people improve the sound from their audio systems. I have been doing this for many years and love to hear the customers results!

Audiophile Time

System set up Audiophile testimoniesI am originally from the United Kingdom but moved to Vilnius, Lithuania, in 1998. My audio system comprised of a Denon amplifier, Denon CD player and a techniques turntable. I also had a pair of JMLAB loudspeakers and was using the power cords and cables supplied. The sound of my system was excellent (so I thought), but I wanted to add a DVD player to keep up with the Jones! At this time, Vilnius saw many changes. As I was walking through the ‘Old town’, I discovered a shop selling DVD players. The shop also sold ‘Hi-end’ audio components. And, I was amazed to see a shop of this standard in the Baltics.

Hi-end

Avd.lt listening roomAs I entered the shop, a gentleman approached me and introduced himself. Dennis asked what I was looking for, and luckily he spoke English, so he made communication very easy. I told him what I needed, and he invited me into his ‘Listening room’. I was very impressed with the high standards and the components the room contained. And I was in a different world. But, when Dennis asked what equipment I was using, I felt a bit embarrassed. And, giving Dennis my gear list made me realise how far down the audio ladder it was (as the actual ‘hi-end ‘ audio played softly in the background). Audiophile testimonies

Suggestion

Denon DV60 DVD playerDennis suggested that I should listen to a used Esoteric DV-60. The DV-60 was about a year old and in perfect condition. I was more than happy to listen and watch the movie, but this confirmed how far behind I was in the audio world. As Dennis hooked up the DVD player, I noticed he changed the power cord. Dennis replaced the black power cord with a long and thicker purple power cord made by Nordost. I asked Dennis why he had changed the power cord. He looked at me, smiled and said: “Because I want it to sound the best for you”. Looking back, I said, “But how can that make any difference to the sound”. Dennis demonstrated how a power cord made a difference as he changed from one Power cord to another. And his simple action was the start of everything for me! Audiophile testimonies

Power cable

Power cord changed my lifeUntil this meeting, I was unaware a Power cord could make any difference in the loudspeakers’ sound. So I had always been content using the power cord supplied. I thought the people manufacturing the equipment also supplied the correct Power cord (which seemed to make sense) and had no idea about the research and developments in this area. I was sceptical because I had never been told about cables or Power cords and never had the opportunity to listen to the differences myself.

Next step

Bass improved in Tannoy Ed's - audio system Power cordsOver the next two years, I upgraded my audio equipment, including all components, cables, and Power cords. I was no longer a sceptic as I had proved everything to myself. On the contrary, I was pleased because my sound was now on a different level. You see, I was very fortunate because I was able to hear the differences a cable made and understood how everything functioned. Dennis and I became good friends and one day invited to attend a two-day seminar. The seminar was held at a hotel in Vilnius and hosted by a company called Nordost and was to demonstrate the difference between audio cables. During the workshop, I became aware of just how vital a Power cord and audio cables were. Audiophile testimonies

Seminar

conferenceThirty people attended. And from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Russia. The speaker was a Norwegian engineer from Nordost who started the presentation by introducing the range of Nordost cables. The prices started at 350 euros and finished at 20,000 euros. The selection was excellent and contained Power cords, Interconnect cables, and Loudspeaker cables. The Demonstration was impressive because of several other manufactures cables used for comparison. For most people, it was clear when a cable changed because the quality of the sound changed. The sound because more open with better energy. I could hear changes through the range. But with the last three cables, the changes were so small it was virtually impossible to listen to the minute differences.

There were six people in the group. And, said they could not hear any difference at all, and it was all bullshit. So, they did not attend the second day. Only three people could listen to disagreements over the entire range. Ten people could easily hear changes up to 70% of the spectrum. Demonstrating people are different and listen to things differently. If you are a person who can perceive the differences, then you are fortunate!

What did I learn?

Audiophile testimonies bestThe seminar lasted three days because of the interest of some of the local dealers. We decided to hold another day’s training in the listening room, where I first met Dennis. People came and brought their components and cables to test. And, was excellent training for everyone and proved everything mentioned at the seminarThe first thing I learned. It was not the power running from the power station to the power outlet, but what was in front of the component. Also, a two-meter Power cord does sound better than a one meter Power cord. And a more expensive power cord does make the system better than a standard Power cord. And It certainly did make a difference when a three-meter loudspeaker cable replaced a two-meter. Also, In the same manner, when one meter interconnects were replaced by a two-meter. And when a two-meter power cord returned to a one-meter.

Choking effect

The second thing I learned was a cable could choke the sound. A standard Power cord (as supplied with the component) is required to transfer power. But the question is, how exactly is the Power cord constructed. What restrictions are the Power cords imposing on the flow of electricity during the transfer? For example, is the Power cord oxygen-free? And is the Power cord of high quality. These are things that will choke, restrict and change the flow of electricity passing through the Power cord. Polarity Power cord changed my life.

Correct polarityThe third thing I learned was about the effect of incorrect Polarity. With cables, Polarity is something often overlooked, and all must be connected the same way. Again, we used the electrician’s screwdriver to check because it was easy. First, the power cord is plugged in, and the screwdriver is put into the IEC connector’s right-hand side. A red light indicates the Power cord is correct. But, if there were no light, we would have rotated the Power cord 180 degrees and checked again. This operation took two minutes but did make a difference to the sound heard.

Sound advice

I think the best thing for a person to do is simply visit their local doctor and have their ears tested. After that best to visit their local Hi-fi or Hi-end shop and test a Power cord or a cable for themselves. Then and only then will you will know if you are able to hear a difference and if the power cable is good fro you. Always believe in yourself. And, never listen to what other people tell you Also, do not get hooked into stupid conversations because many people say it’s all rubbish and a cable does not make any difference (Just as I did twenty years ago). And, always test cables yourself in your own listening room.

Perfect soundTwenty years have passed, and I am in a different situation than the day I went to buy a DVD player. Over the past six years, I have developed a range of cables that outperform many of the top audio lines, and at a fraction of the price. I have some great customers. All of whom have great stories, which I am happy to share with you. I help people improve their audio systems in many different ways. And maybe you would like some help because, maybe a power cable could change your life! Audiophile testimonies

System in FinlandHey Paul, I have now tested the Reference PRO power cable, and the first findings are pretty straightforward. The cable is very clear, and many details are heard, which I haven’t heard before. In that sense, the cable is attractive. Transparency is airy. Sometimes, when clarity is at this level, there might be some troubles. I have to test this thing carefully. Piano and Wind Instruments are very demanding instruments, and the wrong kind of cabling can ruin their sound. This power cable performs those instruments in good touch. Is it perfect? I think not quite excellent, but good?

This power cable is fast and is capable of distinguishing players. And I don’t think the cable changes the signal in any particular way. The stereo image is enormous, and the depth is also just fine. Also, best thing about this cable is the bass playback. I listened on purpose without subs, and honestly, the bass is high quality. I think this cable would work best on the power amplifier in my setup. Now, I have to wait in peace for the cable to settle appropriately in my setup.

Well, It’s getting better and better all the time. And An interesting refinement of the low frequency reproduction of interconnect cables compared to a power cable is that the bass is clearly lower in the interconnect cable. At first I wondered where the bass disappeared, but now it has started to work perfectly. Naturally, when the bass level is lower, the midrange is better exposed. Fortunately, the midrange in this cable is high quality and thus it doesn’t bother much that there is “less” bass. But as I said, the balance is just right and in this case the bass is more toned. I hope I’m not very mean in my results, Regards Lauri, Finland

Hi Paul, I have the latest Reference Pro power cable and interconnects in my system for about a week. The sound fidelity has never been better. I am highly impressed with the Soundstage, depth & dynamics your cables have brought to my system. And I am excited for my three audiophile friends, who will be demoing them over the next month—our lunch & listening afternoon, scheduled for the 20th. I have adjusted the speakers as per your suggestion. And it does sound fantastic. I am listening to the latest remaster of Electric Lady-land by Hendrix.

Your cables, have remarkably filled my cavernous listening space. And It’s all about the music, and the better it sounds, the better you feel! I am looking forward to my audiophile friends experiencing what high-end cables can do. One, in particular, does not believe power cables make a difference. Wait till he gives these babies a listen. He has a remarkable ear, perfect pitch & appreciation for every musical nuance. He is in for a significant surprise. As I think I mentioned, he & his business partner have the longest-running radio jazz program in Canada’s history.

Following day
My friend Wayne has just left after a couple of hours of listening. And after incorporating the Matrix PRO digital cable, we were both stunned by the exquisite reproduction of sound. I played “Winter wonderland” off “December” (a CD I have had for several years) by Chris Botti. And I heard for the first time one of the band members going “de de do” faintly as he played. The microphone picked it up, and I heard it distinctly to-night. Isn’t that wild? Ha….marvellous. Wayne had left by the time I had made this discovery, but both of us were so delighted with the new dimension of sound your digital cable produced. BTW I highly recommend the Chris Botti album. He also does a killer version of “Hallelujah”. Buy it. You won’t be disappointed. Christmas greetings – Larry, British Colombia

Fantastic Audio cableHey Paul, I have been with you over four years and always buy your latest creations. And I am listening to my sweet new reference 2 power cable. It’s so very satisfying, listening to this power cable, and I Don’t know what magic you are using, but is it definitely working! The Sound now is sublime!! The Clarity is phenomenal and with just a hint of softness right on edge. Making it the most pleasingly sound I have gotten out of my system. The tempo is silky-smooth, and with the richness of details, you cannot, other than being amazed about what you hear. And the way you listen to it! It’s easy for me to say this is now my favourite power cord, but to truly understand it, you must experience it. The deep bass tones are so beautiful defined, as much as the highest tones! They bring the wholeness in the “sound”, where there is just a suitable balance between everything in the soundtrack. Truly impressive! The vocals feel free to sparkle when they need and comes through with Clarity and playfulness. – Eirik Rouppert, Bergan, Norway.
